The beach at Jökulsárlón is studded with glacial icebergs which have floated out of the lagoon and been washed ashore by the waves. They're so pretty, the spot is now sometimes referred to as Diamond Beach. But like all Icelandic beaches, it comes with a hazard. Last Sunday, a tourist climbed onto one of the icebergs and became stranded in the sea. Had he fallen off, he would have been crushed by the ice. The tour guide Kristján Karlsson took this photograph. It is very dangerous to enter the wave breaking zone of any Icelandic beach. https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/nature_and_travel/2019/02/11/tourist_trapped_on_iceberg_on_diamond_beach/
