Autumn 2019

Autumn is the time of the year when the human body gathers and restores energy in preparation for the winter. Just as the leaves change colour and nature begins to slow down, the same thing happens within us. A time to disconnect from the outside world and immerse ourselves among nature, to reflect and relax. Iceland is renowned for its beauty in nature, peace and spirituality and we hope to provide you with the most magical experience.

During our yoga sessions, we will explore breath and the body in order to bring balance, harmony and peace in preparation for winter. All classes will be themed around peace, letting go and rejuvenation. With more flow-based classes in the morning and relaxing restorative classes in the evening, we think you will leave feeling elevated, energised and whole. Namaste.

Day 1

Transfer from the international airport, including a visit to the rift between the earth’s tectonic plates where the Viking parliament used to meet at Þingvellir. Then we continue to the village of Laugarvatn. We will stay at Héraðsskólinn, boutique accommodation in an old school house close to the shore of a warm lake. Evening yoga and meditation, plus a late visit to the local Fontana spa, which is naturally heated by the warm waters of the lake.

Day 2

Morning yoga and meditation. Visit the erupting geyser called Strokkur and the vast and powerful waterfall Gullfoss. Then an outdoor soak in the natural hot waters of Iceland’s oldest swimming pool, Gamla Laugin. Evening yoga.

Day 3

Morning yoga and meditation. Stay in the village and make a second visit to the local Fontana spa, which is naturally heated by the warm waters of the lake. We will be shown how the locals bake bread using the sand of the lake shore as a natural oven. Evening yoga.

Day 4

Morning yoga and meditation. Visit the ecovillage which has grown up at Sólheimar and the naturally-heated greenhouses at Friðheimar. Then an excursion to the nearby Laugarvatnshellir cave dwellings, which were inhabited until 1922. Evening yoga.

Day 5

Morning yoga. We say goodbye to our hosts and the village of Laugarvatn and visit world famous Blue Lagoon for a late-morning soak: the perfect way to end a rejuvenating week. Refreshed and relaxed, we transfer to the international airport.
